Dubai With Kids: A First-Timer's Family Guide

Dubai has a reputation for adult luxury, but it’s quietly one of the easier long-haul destinations to bring kids to — calm beach coves, air-conditioned everything, and resorts that plan for families rather than tolerate them.

Where to stay

Jumeirah Beach and Palm Jumeirah both offer calm, shallow-entry beaches that work well for younger children, along with resorts that run supervised kids’ clubs for a few hours at a time.

What to actually plan for

Midday heat outside the winter months makes outdoor activities hard on young kids — plan pool or indoor time between 12 and 4pm, and save beach and desert excursions for morning or late afternoon.

Worth booking ahead

  • A desert safari with a “gentle dune” option for families
  • Aquarium or waterpark tickets, which sell out on weekends
  • A connecting room or family suite — many resorts sell out of these first

Dubai works best for families when you slow the pace down: one big activity a day is usually enough.
